Total Commander là một tiện ích nhỏ gọn, tương tự như Explore trong Windows, nhưng làm việc hiệu quả hơn rất nhiều. Với giao diện 2 cửa sổ làm việc như Windows Explore, mỗi cửa số lại có thể mở thêm nhiều Tab, việc quản lý files trở nên thuận tiện và dễ dàng hơn rất nhiều. Nhất là khi muốn sao chép, đổi tên file hàng loạt thì vô cùng nhanh chóng.

Có rất nhiều các phần mềm tiện ích tương tự như Total Commander, nhưng Total Commander đặc biệt hơn với hàng trăm Plugins, Tools hoàn toàn miễn phí. Với sự hỗ trợ của các Plugins thì Total Commander trở lên mạnh mẽ hơn nhiều lần, xứng đáng để sử dụng hơn tất cả.

Total Commander hỗ trợ rất tốt FTP client, một tiện ích trao đổi files nhanh chóng và tiện lợi giữa các máy tính. Cũng có thể upload files lên mạng với một số Host hỗ trợ FTP như Easy-Share chẳng hạn, chỉ cần đăng ký một tài khoản Free là có thể dễ dàng upload với User và Pass đăng nhập của tài khoản.

Total Commander là một tiện ích khá quen thuộc với nhân viên văn phòng, nhưng có lẽ không mấy ai để ý và sử dụng hiệu quả phần mềm này.

Total Commander 7.56 for Windows released!

December 1, 2010: Total Commander 7.56 is now available for download. This version mainly corrects some errors which were found after the release of Total Commander 7.55a, but also adds some minor new features. The most important are:

* Button bar right click menu: Option to run a program as administrator
* Find files: Keep last search results when using "Go to file" or "Cancel"
* Lister and Compare by content: Auto-detect UTF-8 files by their content
